New Jersey’s iGaming revenue continues to grow

Revenue generated by New Jersey's online casinos rose to over $600m in total since their legalisation in November 2013. 

The month of July saw New Jersey's online casinos create over $3.6m in tax revenue, while the introduction of two new online operators, playMGM and Scores, helped to see gross profits in the month rise up to $20.6m. This left the total tax revenue bill for the state at $108.1m according to the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Unregulated iGaming operators blocked in Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Czech Republic.- European authorities have announced major crackdown on illegal gaming operations as unlicensed platforms have been blocked in Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic. Under recently approved regulations, three administrations decided to introduce ISP blocking to end unauthorised gaming operations.

Although ISP blocking has been criticised by internet, the European governments are reinforcing the legal battle against international gaming operators without license by banning the platforms in their jurisdictions. According to internet experts, the ban, however, is easy to break as ISP blocking is not very effective. Authorities from Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic also stated that illegal operators could be charged with over US$587k fines.

The MGA is hereby advising interested parties that the consultation period is being extended from Wednesday 23 August 2017 to close of business on Monday 4 September 2017.

Australian legislation to limit iGaming services

Australia has proposed a new regulation to limit iGaming services. Legislation would prohibit financial credits for local players at online gaming platforms, which include casino and sports betting sites. 

The amendment has already been presented in Parliament and it expected to be approved later today. The new bill would handle local operations as well as off-shore gaming.
